Pizza in Video Games

Pizza and Video Games

There are more than two million apps available on iTunes, two million more on Android, and thousands available on the Facebook platform. Gaming has grown exponentially as people can now use their phones, tablets, and laptops to play wherever they go. Millions of people also still using gaming consoles to play.

In the world of gaming, you’ll find games that occasionally feature pizza and some that even revolve directly around pizza. Here are some of the top pizza moments in gaming history.

Spider-Man/Delivery Man

In the video game version of Spider-Man 2, there are mini side missions where a player has to deliver pizzas on time. The side missions are an ode to the opening of the Spider-Man 2 movie when Peter Parker was featured as a pizza delivery boy.

The Sims

The Sims pizza is a bit on the pricey side as it first started off at $40, later dropping to $30 in The Sims 3. Still, the pizza was the perfect option for a family meal that results in tragedy.

Lego Island

Pizza plays a big role in this 1997 game. The main character’s name is Pepper Roni and he’s a delivery boy who transports pizza on a skateboard.

Every Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles love the ‘za so it shouldn’t be a surprise that pizza was featured in almost every single game.

Jazzpunk

This 2014 adventure video game has a pizza portal. The portal takes players into a pizza-themed mini-game where you can fight pizza zombies with a pizza cutter in a world made of pizza.

Assassin’s Creed

Sometimes you’ll come across a simple scene. In Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, that’s exactly what happens when you enter into a room with half eaten pizza. The biggest crime here is that someone left a half-eaten pizza laying around.

Mario Party 9

In yet another instance of a mini-game, each player has their own topping and the objective of the game is to throw toppings on a rotating pizza by shaking the controller. The player who gets all their toppings onto every slice first wins.

Pizza Fractions

What better way to teach a child about fractions than pizza? In this Apple iTunes app, players have an easy-to-understand, visually-based introduction to fractions, designed for grade levels 2-5. Players are presented with fractions to identify by counting slices, and level of difficulty can easily be adjusted.

Good Pizza, Great Pizza

Another fun game, this Android app gives players a chance to learn what it’s like to run a pizza shop. Take and make a customer’s orders, make enough money to keep the shop open, and keep the business successful in order to compete against your pizza rival. Rated E for Everyone.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Liberty City, & Vice City

The Well-Stacked Pizza Co. is a chain of pizza restaurants featured in several iterations of Grand Theft Auto. Players can order pizza, receive orders, and even rob the place because, well, it’s Grand Theft Auto.
