2017 Crazy Pizza Stories

No matter how you looked at it, 2017 was a year with good, and not-so-good, moments for pizza. From Twitter pineapple pizza debates to epic pizza memes, a lot was said and done around pizza this past year.

So, as we walk into a pizzalicious 2018, we reminiscence about the craziest stories about pizza in 2017.

Jimmy Kimmel vs. Pumpkin Spice Pizza

Jimmy Kimmel has always been a very outspoken man when it comes to his pizza toppings. So, when he heard about this thing called “Pumpkin Spice Pizza” you can bet he was upset. So upset he went on a personal crusade against it. He even encouraged the audience to call their senators and stand against pumpkin spice pizza.

Pizza Gets Teen to Yale

An 18-year-old got a ticket to Yale based on her college essay that talked about…ordering pizza. Yes, you read that right. This girl wrote an essay explaining why she loves ordering pizza. She also talked about reading 100 books in 1 year, but we know it was her pizza loving essay that caught their attention. Who said your love for pizza wouldn’t pay off eventually?

Pizza Slice Haircut Trend

We saw a lot of crazy hair trends in 2017. Unicorn colors, glow-in-the-dark hair, glitter hair, rainbow hair, and everything else in between. But, what stood out the most, was this hairstyle that had a hidden pizza slice, fully colored with pepperoni and green pepper toppings included. If that’s not displaying your love for pizza, we don’t know what would.

Pizza Prom Dress

A girl got a dream prom dress, a pizza dress! Olivia Mears created a gown of a full pizza pie. She went for a classic pizza with pepperoni, tomatoes, green peppers, some mushrooms, and plenty of cheese. The dress, which also doubled as a bed, is not only tasty but fabulous. Talk about prom dress goals!

No Pineapple Pizza for You!

If you are a pineapple pizza lover, sorry but this pizzeria is not here for you. A pizzeria in Arizona decided to change a customer’s order of a pineapple pizza. Apparently, their pizza maker had to stay true to who he was and instead of adding pineapple to the pizza, added a $5 bill with a handwritten note explaining why the pineapple was missing.

Strawberry Pizza?

If you thought the pineapple pizza debate was crazy enough, wait until you see this tweet talking about strawberry pizza. If you think this is taking it too far, you might be right. The pizzeria proposes a cheesy pizza, topped with nothing but strawberries. Would you try this creation?

Presidential Pizza Ban

It is time to put this pineapple debate to an end. Iceland Magazine reported that Iceland’s president, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson said that if he were able to sign laws on his own, the first one he would pass would be banning pineapple as a topping on pizzas. That’s how serious he is about no pineapples on pizza. Wow. And of course, Twitter users started popping up with messages of support everywhere.

2017 was quite the year for pizza and we can’t wait to see what 2018 has in place for pizza. What do you think will happen this year?
